O35s Silvers 2020 Season Review

Our Silvers Manager Mark Sharp delivers his verdict on a hard-fought season for our Silvers.

It was a slow start to the season while our new look team got used to playing together, not helped by last seasons top scorer picking up an injury in round 1 which kept him out for several weeks, and our talisman Roland suffering a season ending injury in round 3.

Injuries were a recurring theme throughout the season but the team battled through, and although the first half of the season saw some strong performances, we were ultimately unable to register any points on the board until a rollercoaster 4-3 win in round 5.

An entertaining 1-1 draw was played out in round 7 before a hard-fought 1-0 win over Marrickville, This was pretty notable as our last 2 results against them were 8-1 and 6-1 losses. This also registered our keeper Steven’s first ever clean sheet for the club!

Confidence was high as we entered the second half of the season, but again luck was not on our side as lots of hard work and determination were not rewarded with points.

We were back on form for the wooden spoon match, thumping 4 past Balmain. It could have been 5 but the “Bruno Fernandes” is not for everyone…

Although the season ended with a 7th placed finish there were some great moments of individual skill and teamwork to look back on, and a really strong base for next years push for the title!
