Sydney Rangers FC is shocked and appalled by the reports of a homophobic assault on two Sydney University football players competing in the Football NSW State Cup Tournament in Griffith in regional NSW.
There is no place in a civilised society for this type of violent behaviour and we extend our sympathies to our sister football players at Sydney University. Vilification of a person on the basis of sexual orientation is against the law, as is assault.
Only when we stand united as friends, family, bystanders, partners and team mates against homophobia will we truly rid the world of this destructive crime. Rangers encourages the NSW Police to intervene and charge those responsible.
