After some strong results pre-season against O35 and All Age teams the Silvers looked forward to an improved season on the previous year. The first couple of games contained good spells of performance however narrow 3-2 defeats to the two Marrickville teams. This was then followed by a 4-2 defeat to Hurlstone Park.
Next up a strong first half against Balmain was followed by a collapse and loss of confidence and a 4-0 defeat. A post mortem was carried out and the formation of 4-3-3 which had looked to have potential for us was ditched and we returned to the trusted 4-4-2.
We looked sharper after this change and won our first game against Hurlstone Park 2-1. The next few weeks saw us pick up a second win, with a great controlling performance against Enfield, with 7 scored and another half dozen chances narrowly missed, alongside a few further defeats.
A great comeback from 2-0 to Hurlstone Park to draw 2-2 was followed by a forfeit victory and then a heavy defeat to Balmain 7-1 where we performed badly and Balmain scored almost every chance they had. The first half of the season was capped off by a strong performance from a small sick and injured squad and a 5-2 defeat to the second place team.
We look forward to the second half of the season in the new division 7 with high hopes of getting into the playoffs!
